How To Install A Car Suspension System

The primary function of a car suspension is to maintain the vehicle's stability and keep the car on the ground. Without it, you will find it difficult and uncomfortable to drive and maneuver your automobile. Designs of car suspension system vary depending on the brand or model of the vehicle. Many truckers and car owners modify or change their vehicle's suspensions to meet their specific needs and lifestyle. Below are some simple steps on how to install a car suspension:

  1. Safety must be your utmost priority. As a precautionary measure, disconnect the negative terminal of the car's battery. Park your car in a level ground too.

  2. In order for you to suspension system safely and easily, you have to raise the car up by using a jack.

  3. Remove the tires and lug nuts and then pull off the tires. Place the lug nuts and the tires in safe place.

  4. Then, remove the stock shock. The easiest way to remove it is to start from the top. In most cases, it will come off easily. You can use a hammer if you're having a hard time removing it. If the bottom is still bolted, use a wrench to get the nut off. It might be a little hard to get the nut off, so you have to use more force. Be careful not to damage the thread.

  5. After removing the old car suspension system, replace the new suspension springs on the mounting brackets. Usually, the suspension kits have several parts to install. Make sure to read the instructions on the kit.

  6. Attach the new shocks to the lower mounting points before tightening the nuts and bolts.

  7. Place the tires and nuts and tighten them as much as you can. The new car suspension system might be stiffer. Wait for a few days before everything functions well. Take the car to a mechanic to check the alignment.
