Before attempting to replace a car antenna, determine what kind of antenna best suits the model of your radio. You can use motorized or fixed antennas, depending on your preference. When installing your new car antenna, carefully read and follow the instructions. Inspect the fender area where the antenna will be mounted. Pull out the old coaxial cable then clean the area before installing the new antenna.

Afterwards, plug the new antenna coaxial cable into the extension coaxial cable. Some cables have an adaper that you have to plug to the coaxial. The second cable completes the connection from the antenna to the radio. If you want to have an extension on the cable, make sure that the connection line is not short.

Replace the base of the antenna where you need to mount it. Place the new antenna assembly into the mounting hole. Make sure everything sits in place before plugging the new antenna cable into the stereo. Lastly, test your radio if it's working.
