  • Question: What are pet beds?

Answer: Pet beds provide a comfy sleeping area for your pets; just like a mattress provides comfort and support for us humans. Just as there are certain features that you look for in a bed for yourself, there are options that you will want from a bed for your pet. A typical pet bed will elevate the animal above the floor, support the joints, provide warmth, and are easy to clean.

  • Question: How do I determine the size of the pet bed for my pet?

Answer: Size is a very important factor for the comfort of your pet. Even if your pet usually curls up in a ball to sleep, you will still want to provide enough space for your pet to stretch out too. If you are getting a single pet bed for multiple pets, you will want a considerable large bed to provide plenty of space for them to rest on together. When it comes to the size, going too large will not pose a problem. If it is too small, it will be uncomfortable for the pet and they may decide to not even use it.

  • Question: What is a heated pet bed?

Answer: The heated pet beds that we carry are more than just a bed for pets that is heated. They have been designed to elevate the animal for optimal comfort, provide addition support for the joints, and they are heated to provide additional warmth. Heated pet bed cushions that use heated gel pads or other methods for heating can assist older pets with their joint problems.

  • Question: What materials are used?

Answer: Materials that can usually be found in pet beds are rattan, wicker, and plastic. The wicker and rattan pet beds are commonly found in the oval or round baskets, which provide extra cushion. Plastic can be found in oval or round baskets, for extra support. The manufacturers have ensured that the plastic used is chew-resistant and has no sharp edges that could potential be hazardous. You may even find stainless steel used in the higher end pet beds, which is relatively easy to keep clean.

  • Question: What are the benefits of a foam bed versus one that uses cedar chips?

Answer: While a foam pet bed offers additional comfort for your pet, it does not do anything to restrict the population of fleas. Some manufacturers use a zippered outer shell filled with cedar chips. Pet beds that contain cedar chips will discourage fleas from laying eggs and can be refilled periodically. However, the beds with cedar chips are not as comfortable as one that uses the polyester fiber or foam.

  • Question: I have a small toy dog. Can a cat bed also function as a dog bed?

Answer: Absolutely! As long as it is the right size for your dog, a cat bed can function as a dog bed too. However, you might not want to tell your dog that.

  • Question: I know there are heated pet beds available to keep my pet warm in the winter, but do you have a solution that will keep my pet cool in the summer too?

Answer: Yes! We understand that pets can also be negatively affected by extreme heat as well and may require a bed with a cooling element. Some of our pet beds use a refrigerated or a frozen gel pad to keep it nice and cool. We also carry a Due Temp Beds that can provide warmth on cold days and coolness on warm days, based on how it is set. This is the best choice for anyone living in a climate that has both cold winters and hot summers.
